1970 Maserati Ghibli spyder
Serial number: AM115S1081             

This is one of the 125 factory original Ghibli spyder.  It is a US version manufactured on April 1970, and includes the very desirable Borrani wire wheels, original 5-speed (many have been converted from
automatics), and power steering. Note: all original spyders had serial numbers that ended in an odd number, if you see a Ghibli spyder with an even numbered serial number then it is a cut coupe.

Interior: Car has good patina with mostly original interior, the seats and carpets have been redone at some time and look very good, the rest is the original leather. Overall the interior is quite nice. The radio
is a period Becker Europa, all gauges and switches are in working order, including the clock and indicator lights. I am a stickler on making sure everything works as intended. The AC is connected but not
blowing cold, probably low on freon. I can have i charged if that is important to the new owner, I just never use the AC since I only drive the car with the top down.

Body: Shows no signs of prior accidents. Body panels have a good fit and the yellow paint (Maserati "giallo" 20Y305) has a good gloss. Glass is original and in very good condition (the windshield still has
the original run in decal ... very rare). Chrome bumpers and trim are excellent .and so are the five  wire wheels. Tires are Pirelli P4000 in new condition. Convertible top is nicely done, fits well and in good
condition.  Note: the soft top is a medium tan, in the photos it appears much lighter. Overall the car looks very nice and the fly yellow color works well with the lines of the Ghibli spyder.  

Mechanicals: The 4.7 liter engine sounds and runs excellent with very good compression and oil pressure! On a Ghibli the engine number is the same as the chassis number which is also the same as the
VIN number on the title. All the numbers match on this car. This is a late series Ghibli with the desirable 42DCNF Webers and late style brake booster and interior layout.  The ZF 5-speed gearbox shifts well
with clutch and synchros working properly.  The suspension has new bushings and brakes pads have plenty of life . The optional power steering is a must on the Ghibli and makes it much easier to drive at
low speeds. Overall the engine compartment is as nice as I've seen on a Maserati.  I just serviced the power steering, flushed the brake fluid with synthetic DOT 4, new "Cavis" spark plug wires, new cam
cover gaskets. I even used the proper Jubilee stainless steel hose clamps. My intention is for people to say "wow" when the engine compartment is shown ... I think it does that. Last  year I drove the Ghibli at
the MaserMiglia .and put over 1000 miles on the car over a long weekend. Driving the Ghibli with the top down on the Blue Ridge Parkway is what motoring is all about! I think it is fair to say the car has been
tested! After having owned over a dozen Ghibli I can definitely say that mechanically this is a very strong car.

Miscellaneous: Includes the "goodies" which are missing from most cars and which are extremely difficult to locate ... such as a complete toolkit , the jack in its pouch, original factory owners manual and
rare Ghibli spyder dealer sales brochure. I know of an original Ghibli toolkit that sold recently for $7K! Also included are reprints of the owners and parts manual for regular use.
