I purchased this Ghibli from the original owner, who personally picked up the car at the factory. This was my first experience getting a car for which the owner could honestly say they knew the history of the car from day one. The title is still in the original owner's name (in Georgia you do not need transfer title to register a car this old)
This Ghibli was built to US specifications (as can be seen by the US steering wheel and side markers) since the owner knew that eventually he would bring it to the US and did not want any problems with importation. The first 10 years the car was registered in Switzerland and spent most of its time in the south of France. Since the car was going to be driven in Europe the factory fitted it with red/amber taillights (the US cars have red/red), but more importantly it has the euro exhaust manifolds which makes the car breath better. It also has the four pipe exhaust, not sure if it left the factory this way or added later ... in any event they add a bit more aggressive look and sound great!
The paint was recently redone in its original "tabacco metalizzato". It is a rather unusual color and very difficult to capture its beauty in photography. I must say the color is one of the things that makes this Ghibli stand up in a crowd... even if the crowd are 20 other Ghibli. It is just not your typical red, black, silver .. etc we are so use to seeing in an Italian exotic. This car just won first place in its class amongst more serious competition. I do NOT consider this to be a show car (my cars were meant to be driven) ... I do think the paint and especially the color affected the judge's voting. The interior is original and was slightly redyed to bring back the "senape" (mustard) color. The radio is aftermarket and I'm looking for a proper radio to put in the car.
Wires wheels are in superb condition and tires are Pirelli 4000 in as new condition. Engine runs fantastic! Valve clearances were just done. Original owners manual, tools, jack with bag and service booklet are included.
