1972 Maserati Ghibli SS

Serial number: AM115/49 1986
Celeste Chiaro (sky blue) with original black leather
80,800 kilometers (50,200 miles). Less than 2000 miles since mechanical restoration
4.9 liter, 5-speed, AC, power steering, euro spec, power windows, 4 pipe exhaust, factory tools/jack, manuals

This is a euro spec Ghibli SS with very nice cosmetics and superb mechanicals. This car is a rare find ... not only it is a very attractive example (color combo is as it left the factory) with very good panel fit and gaps and a nice paint job (done about 15 years ago), and it is the very desirable Euro version of the more powerful 4.9 liter version (Ghibli SS) ..... but most important, it is mechanically like new. The previous owner had just about everything mechanical restored and brought back to factory specs, this was done at a cost of almost $90,000!!! All the work is documented with photos and receipts. Also, documented is the dyno test of the engine after the work was completed. The work was complete 18 months ago and less than 500 miles had been clocked on the engine when I purchased the car. Gauges and accessories are in working order, including the clock and the air conditioner. If you ever wanted to experience how a new Maserati Ghibli SS engine feels, this is it. The car is fitted with new Michelin XWX 215/70 15 tires.

The black leather is all original and in very nice condition. The leather is soft, the dash top has the proper mousehair material, headliner is very goo, nice Philips AM/FM/SW radio .... a very nice molested interior.

This car was equipped with larger gasoline tanks. Below is documentation from the factory on this unique feature:

"GHIBLI SS AM115/49*1986* manufactured in Jan 1971. Celeste chiaro exterior. Black leather interior. Sold in Milan to Mr. Giovanni Bodo. On 30th March 1971, when the odometer showed 1969 km, he brought it in for a factory service. He had 2 bigger tanks measuring a total of 120-125 litres fitted. It was for this reason that 2 different tank coverings were also fitted. The owner wanted more mileage from his car, at least 1000km. Normal gas tanks at the time had a capacity of 50+50= 100 litres and did onlyabout 800 km."

On September 6, 2005 I completed a 1400 drive with this Ghibli that took me from Denver to Durango, on to Four Corners crossing the Navaho Nation, from there to the Grand Canyon and finally to Sedona and Phoenix. The Ghibli performed flawlessly... it handled altitudes of over 12,000 feet and dessert heat of close to 110 degrees without problems. The Ghibli is a great car for long drives!

This car is ideal for the person that enjoys cars that not only look good but mostly enjoys driving his sports cars! The car is being offered at a fraction of the restoration cost.
