Olde English white with black leather interior, 4.2 liter 6 cylinder engine, 4-speed fully synchronized gearbox, wire wheels, factory A/C
This e-type coupe came out of an estate sale in North Carolina. I was very pleased when the car was delivered as it is in much better condition than I had expected. The body is very straight and rust free. The bottom of the doors, which are typically a rust problem on these cars, are in excellent condition. The paint is very nice for a driver. In person the paint looks a little more creamy than in the photos. I think it is a very attractive shade of white. Please note that this is the more desirable and attractive two person coupe, and not the bulkier 2+2.
Wire wheels are in excellent condition and so are the tires. The bumpers and other bright trims are not perfect but acceptable for a driver. Mechanically the engine is very strong with excellent oil pressure (50 psi), even when warm. Cylinder compression of 165 psi per cylinder was tested by a shop hired by the auction company. All the gauges are in working order. Even the clock is working! The car came with rare factory AC, which works and blows cold air. One thing I really like about this car is the 4 pipe ANSA exhaust. It provides just the rights amount of exhaust note that seems to be missing from the stock exhaust pipes.
Interior is very nice with no rips or tears on the leather. Dash is in very good condition without any cracks. Very nice headliner, carpets and door panels. Car comes with spare tire, which is an original Dunlop SP Sport. Included is the owner's manual, lubrication chart, wiring diagram, jack in the bag, knock off hammer and tool for removing the wire wheel knock offs.
On October 4 I drove the car 75 miles to the local Jaguar club annual show and it won third place in its class award. This Jaguar is a driver and in no way a show car, but it is the type of car you would not be ashamed to take to any Jaguar event. Best of all, the car drives and handles as a XKE should!
This is a great car for someone that appreciate the good looks of the XKE coupe, and wants something they can enjoy without having to get involved in a restoration.
